I just recently purchased a 91 Sp with the yellow motor. Rode it and was getting a lot of cavitation. I then replaced the wear ring and impeller. The ski now runs great in a straight line and when turning right, but upon left hand turns the ski bogs hard and sounds like it’s misfiring. Sometimes even after straightening it out it keeps bogging. If I take the seat off while it’s running and unplug the boot from the spark plug, and then plug it back onto the plug, then give it gas, it takes off normally.... the second I make a left hand turn it bogs hard. Anyone have any ideas on what this could be? I’m not super mechanically savvy when it comes to skis, but I know a few things. Any help would be much appreciated. IMG_0602.JPG

Aaarrrgghhhh!

I hate it when I think I have the answer but I can't find where I read it at.

How tight do the plug caps feel on the plugs? I'm not talking about the rubber seal, but the metal to metal clamp action when the cap clicks in place. Make sure the caps are "grabbing" the plug. The cap can also be loose in the wire itself. The cap has a metal screw built into it and to connect to the wire it is litteraly spun onto the wire end. If this connection is worn you can unspin the cap, cut 1/4 to 3/8 of an inch off the wire, as square as you can, and spin the cap back on for a new connection.

There is a situation that has happened to some people, I have never had it happen, where in hard left turns the motor will cut out due to the g-force pushing fuel away from the passages in the carb. It is only a momentary scenario and, no offense, I don't think your cranking that SP around hard enough to do it. However, if there is a worn carb or the carb is not perfect inside there is always a chance something similar is happening. Carb rebuilds are not too expensive and thanks to Mikidymac you have the best "how to rebuild a carb" thread right at the top of this two stroke forum. The left hand turn scenario is what I can't find written down that is frustrating me.

The next area I would check is the fuel line pick up going into the tank. You need to pull the clamp off the fitting and, carefully, pull the whole assembly out and just look for anything broken or obviously wrong.

Sending a PM.

If you still have the grey fuel lines you need to go replace them with black automotive grade fuel line, not clear rubber but the kind of stuff napa sells.

A new set of spark plugs would not hurt either.

20 through 26 are the fuel pickup lines in the tank that you want to look at.
