Hello everyone. I am a new SP owner and am new to PWC's.
I just got a 1990 SP 5803. I was doing some research and this site is awesome. Thank you to all who help.
Some newb questions. The pickup lines in the fuel tank are rotted and have fallen off. Do I need to get the remains out of the tank?
Is the difference btw ON and RESERVE just that the RES has a longer hose?
Can I use some good fuel line and weighted chain saw tank filters, have the RES hit the bottom, and cut the ON hose to be 1 inch off bottom? I see the hoses are 156mm and 196mm.
I temp put on a 1/4" piece of hose to get fresh fuel to engine with sta-bil mixed in.
Does this SP have an oil reservoir for shaft oil? I can't find one.
Does this SP have a wear out ring at the impeller?
I have replaced the spark plugs and all of the fuel line, new fuel with sta-bil.
I will be cleaning the RES valve after reading this site.
Thank you for any help or advice. I am pretty good mechanicaly. I have rebuilt many car engines, a few outboards, and a few merc outdrives.

Welcome.

A little advice. Don't ask more than one or 2 questions in a post. Most people won't feel like answering if it gets complected.

If your pick up is busted, yes, get the chunks out of the fuel tank. They will only cause you problems later.

Yes, the Reserve tube is just longer than the ON tube.

Do what you want with the pickup. BUT, I would use rigid tubes for better reliability.

NO... there is no extra oil reserve. Keep the tank topped off to be safe.

YES, there is a wear ring. SeaDoo has used them in all of the modern skis.

Good luck
