Hey guys, Ive had this seadoo for about 2 weeks now

when I bought it I did a compression test and spark test on the spot (because ive learned my lesson with 2 strokes)

the spark was a bit weak but it was there

Currently I have replaced all the fuel, oil, fuel pick up, took apart cleaned carb, got the right spark plugs.

It came with a full manual so its been helpful

There is compression (130psi in each cyl), There is Gas for sure

Originally it would fire but just for like 3 times in a row and then quit.

I tore open the access pannel and meter'd the connections using the manual

Figured out that somebody had some wires crossed up and put everything back where it is supposed to be.

The main problem seemed to be the spark plug wires (as they had connectivity issues), so now everything is sound.

When I try to start I only see a spark once I let go of the starter.

Has anyone ever had this issue??

I checked this with both plugs, and its the same with each

Is something backwards??

I gather it is supposed to close a connection when you hit the start button, but it seems not to spark when cranking, and spark once or twice when I stop trying to start it.

HELPPPP IM GETTING FRAZZLED!!!

(any help would be greatly appreciated)

unplug the black/red wire at the coil, not the one, that plugs onto the coil, but the wire, that branches off from it. If it fires up, then you'll need to pull the choke to kill the ski, and with that, you'll need new mpem

Thanks for the suggestion, however the problem still exists

it has weak or no spark when pressing starter button

only clearly sparks immediately when I stop pushing starter button

tried unplugging the black red wire..... No dice

any other suggestions??

Thanks

Are there any other suggestions?

Other than just play with the ignition box wires (not the coil with plug wires attached)

If i swapped the wires in this module could this fix the problem.

If its only sparking when the starter is not being pushed, something is doing the opposite of what it should

Please HELP Im hoping to get out on it this weekend.

Thanks guys

And anyone with pics of what their wiring that they could post would be VERY VERY appreciated.

sooo close

Ive got every issue sorted out, its firing, getting fuel

however its not running, it fires a few time spins up a bit then nothing

its exactly like this youtube video

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5RyJ5F1LC-4&feature=related

any ideas? spark seems to be strong and good, plenty of fuel and compression

hoping to take to the cottage tomorrow

any suggestions would be greatly appreciated

could it be something shutting it down??

pull RV cover off, and with mag piston at TDC, take a gander at the position of the rotary valve. The points should be 132*/52*

Thanks slot for all the help,

I was able to get it running :)

it would run with the hose, but woud run and die In the water

checked rotary valve, crank seals...all fine

now it won't start :p

ran into a guy who is an expert at these and is a cottage neighbor (how lucky am I)

he saw it when it was originally running, and again now that it won't start

it is the ignition coil, he is getting me a guarenteed used one for 50$ :)

at least I know alot about these yellow 587's now

thanx guys
