07 RXT hard to steer, sounds like sand in linkage?

I have an 07 RXT that has been giving me problems steering lately, it has very poor steering and the the OPAS paddles seem to have sand in them? When I try and back-drive the steering by moving the paddles, the sand noise is very loud and the handle bars barley move, in contrast my 05 RXP moves easily when back driven. Can anyone tell me what parts to clean and how to do it? Im not sure whether its the OPAS paddles or the linkage thru the Hull?
