Hello! My name is John and I am looking for some advice.

I hate to be the guy that makes his first post a "help me!" but I don't technically even own a Sea-Doo yet, so I thought I would throw this out there.

My wife and I are looking at a 2006 Speedster 200 Wake with the twin 215hp rotax engines.

The boat has about 30 hours on it. The previous owner passed away after the purchase and the boat has been sitting in the garage since.

The battery was dead and the gas tank was full. I was told it was winterized properly and the gas stabilized, but who knows?

Anyhow, I put a new battery in, and both engines fired right up.

We went and put it in the water to test it out.

The left engine runs perfectly. The right engine did not. It was very sluggish, and it seemed to surge.

I ran it for a little, hoping to clear it up.

Finally I took it out and went home to try and figure it out.

I put 3 new plugs in that engine and it runs WAY better, but not as good as the other engine at all.

It is still suring up like it is getting fuel/spark and then dropping back down.

I am fairly certain it is fuel, as the engine doesn't seem to be running rough, just increasing RPMs and then decreasing back down.

I do not know how or where to change fuel filters in it. Any advice?

There is only one Sea-Doo dealership that will work on a boat within 2 hours of me, and they are booked until Aug 3rd.

If anyone knows the location of the filters I would sure appreciate some help. Family reunion this weekend and I would love to have the boat fixed and the purchase completed before then.

Thank you in advance!

John

The fuel filters are in the tank on the pump tree assemblies (there are two). There are two filters on each one. The swap isn't too bad but you will want the manual there is a trick with a floor jack to push down the top of the tank to be able to get them out. Also don't buy the filters from Seadoo there is a cross match from a Saturn passenger car. Airtex FS220 and FS242 are the filters, you need two of each. While I recommend you change them, I would bet that is not your issue.

I had a very similar issue when I bought my speedster 200 and it had been sitting for many years. I believe mine was a sticking (closed) injector that cleared itself up after some running time and fuel treatment. When you pulled the plugs was one significantly drier than the others? You can tell a sticky injector with a mechanics stethoscope while the engine is running. If you find a stuck one, you can try and tap the injector body with a wood or plastic dowel or similar while it's running.

You can also swap the fuel line and pump wiring from one pump to the other, thus feeding your motors off opposite pumps to see if the issue stays with the pump or stays with the problem engine.

Also would try swapping coilpacks from good engine to bad one.

Do all these things one at a time so you can pinpoint what the issue is.

Good luck.

Wow, thank you!

I took the boat to a Sea-Doo dealer a couple hours away. They put it on the computer and told me it has 20.2 hours on the engines.

There was one code for exhaust temperature at 2 hours, no repeats and no other codes.

I topped the tank off with 92 premium and added some injector cleaner. I am going to cruise it around this weekend and see if it clears up. I will also try the other suggestions you made, thank you very, very much for taking the time to reply!

I just noticed you have a 430 not a 310. You will want to have the superchargers serviced sooner than later to avoid a very costly failure down the road.

Hi!

I saw your message. I figure I have two mild weekends at best before I put her away for the summer, and will have the SC's rebuilt and the slip washers upgraded.

I wanted to replay to my message and say that I turned off the perfect pass and the issue went away.

I will need to get the PP looked at, but for now she runs 100% better. Now the left engine (the one I didnt tune up) lags a little behind the right one, haha! Looks like I need new plugs in the left too.

The boat ended up having 20.2 hours on it when I took it to the shop to get looked at.
