I have a 05 SeaDoo GTX I’m new to these skis. Hooked jump cables up not know.Ski Fired up, idles fine. Took it to the lake wouldn’t run over 20 mph. So loaded it up. Went home. Did some research learned about the two keys. ( Learner and normal ). When back to the lake. Try both keys same results. Came home again was going to pull the fuel system and clean. Started taking it apart and heard some noise. Fuel pump and a valve on the top of the engine was turning off and on. Without the key on. All the electrical Components r going crazy turning off and on. So I’m not sure if I fired the computer. Any help would be appreciated Thanks

It's possible, especially if your battery is weak and your charger is the older (heavy-ish) old fashion transformer style. There's a sticker right there says do not charge with battery connected. If you have a weak cell and a non-smart charger, it can pump into the high teens to the posts. An excellent battery won't allow over about 14.8v and an electronic smart charger will see a partially open cell and refuse to charge. Your ecm is connected at all times and does not like over 15v. A dealer can plug in and they'll know pretty quick because BUDS will fail to fully communicate with the ecm.

When I first got the ski. I did not see the sticker. It was after I jump the ski with a truck. That I saw the sticker. I have pulled the battery charged it. Checked it with a meter and had 12.80 v. I have a smart charger that shuts off after it is charged.

What does this mean "Hooked jump cables up not know."??

Since you are "new to these skis" I would visit seadoomanuals.net and download the operator's guide and the shop manual. Read. Referencing the guide, your 1st mistake ... was attempting to jump start the ski. NEVER attempt that as it can damage the ECU. ECUs are very expensive!

Greg was speaking of a battery charger, but when the battery is installed, even if it's "excellent", the ski can over or under charge it since that is a function of the ski's charging system ... not the battery. Again, reference your shop manual. Additionally, it is true that the ECU is electrically connected at all times, but it is not powered at all times; the ECU has non-volatlie memory like many computers to store critical information. The MPEM provides power to the various ski electronics, sensors, switches, and other devices. On a properly functioning ski, the MPEM powers down approximately 2 minutes after you remove the lanyard from the D.E.S.S. post; that removes power from the ECU as well. Again, see your shop manual for specific theory of operation details.

I would also pull out all the fuses and clean all the connections. I've heard stories of people fixing the weirdest electrical issues you can imagine just by doing that.

I am having similar issues on my 05 gtx sc. it’s draining the battery dead and makes the same clicking noise. Coming from what appears to be a solenoid on top of the front of the engine , near a coolant line, after the Dess Key has been pulled. What is this part?

I have the same thing happening on my speedster 200. It only does it on the left engine. I was told that the MPEM may be going bad. I make sure to turn off the battery when not running.

That solenoid noise also seems to prime the fuel pump too.. I can hear the pump click on and off at same time.
