Hey guys just picked up an 04 XPDI. Def not a stock machine. No DI on motor... (duel carbs) oil injection removed. Looks like oil sensor was cut. Not sure about variable trim yet. Looking to get all this working. Pulled motor and in the middle of doing magneto/stator & Bendix. Why would someone swap and remove all this? Is this good, bad, or just preferred?? Any input on what I should do while motor is out, or to motor while out would be great!! Thanks
 
It’s not a DI engine then. The carbed and DI are different. Sounds like someone swapped a carbed motor and electronics. Probably because the DI’s can be hard and expensive to diagnose and repair.
 
Check the bendix bearing in the engine case and the hole size on the plastic bendix support bracket.
 
Excellent !!! Let me know how you get that thing out of there. :) Mine was hateful but it was destroyed. I ended up grinding the bearing race and being really careful.
