04 GTX supercharged Push Start Button issue

Hey guys i have a 04 GTX SC and the red start/stop button is getting really hard to push, is this normal? my wife can hit it, i can but its very hard. do i have to get a new switch or can this be fixed? thanks

Not common. Replace it so that it can safely be used.

happened to me....$8 for a new red button cap...removed one screw...popped chrome cover...replaced...prob solved.

red2blue, was your the round red button of the odd squareish shaped one

It's likely just the red button cover, not the mechanical switch underneath. I had to replace mine's red start/stop cover too (it's not round). I don't really know why they do that seems like the plastic changes shape as it ages. It's an easy inexpensive fix luckily.

You dont happen to have the part number off hand to look for do you? if not i will search for it.

I took mine off and cleaned it good and put back on and its a little better now, but not like it should be.

Before you purchase it, I suggest asking what all comes with that part number. You want to make sure the cover is part of it.

If not, [MENTION=41828]Minnetonka4me[/MENTION] probably has everything in a good used assembly.

So i figured it out that the actual switch is good, its the Actuall RED START/STOP Button, the plastic piece that is sticking, do you happen to know the part number for just it, and not the actual switch (278001733). thanks
