02 gtx efi or di not sure rpms 6400 but only 38 mph

I have a 02 gtx efi is what the vin says but I think it's a di. It gets up revs quick max is about 6400 but top speed is only about 38

I'm not sure. This is my first jet ski I've read a little bit about cavitation but not sure what the damage would look like. The guy I got it from just replaced wear ring recently. I checked the grate underneath and it's clean and clear. These are the best pics I could get without removing it

If it was your wear ring the engine would hit the rev-limiter You need another 400-500 rpm. I hope it's not a DI. I really like the RFIs. Check the water control valve on the water box check to see if that is leaking and the diaphragm is in good condition. That will cause you that type of RPM Loss. Good Luck !

Thanks. Will check it today after work. I'll post a pic of the motor later maybe you can verify by looking at it. It does have injectors but my brothers 01 di has a black cover over his injectors that says direct fuel injection and mine don't .not sure if mine is missing but vin says it a rfi.

Your wear ring is trashed and your impeller leading edges look bent.

Pull the pump.

High RPM and low water speed is always pump related.

Does the top of your engine say DIRECT FUEL INJECTION? If it does that is a 951 DI if not it is a 951 carb or 787 RFI.

Looks the same but don't have the black dfi piece over the injectors. Any suggestions on brand for new ring and impeller. Also what should I be getting as far as max rpm and speed. Thanks

You might have RFI then. Take a picture of the engine.

Impros can refurbish your impeller. Wear rings from PWC Muscle, Seadoo warehouse and OSD Seadoo.

I guess I have the di? What should I be getting on rpm and top speed?

That’s definitely a 951 DI Direct Fuel Injection.

2002-2003 is 51-52 mph top speed.

Max rpm should be around 7,000.

Is that ski a big "moose" ski like this one? This is a 2003. I like the smaller GTXs and the way the handle.

Tbh I've only rode it twice but it seems to be. I really like it though just wish it was a little faster than 38mph lol

Impeller will not be here til next week putting wear ring in today. Will my old impeller mess up my new ring? Should I just wait til impeller comes and do it both at the same time
