Hey guys,
Just purchased a 2001 RX 951 off a local guy. After replacing the battery, positive battery cable from battery to relay in rear ebox, and spark plugs. I took it for a test ride as I new the low end needed some attention. I'll skip the how it ran and get to the main issue I have. I got home and flushed it, wash the exterior and decided to simple green the bilge. I cleaned it all out and let it dry up. A week goes by and make my way to take it out again to test ride but this time it does not start. After trying for a long time to get it to turn over and start. I took the battery out and found it was very low on charge. At first I thought, ok maybe its not charging the battery so took it home and charged it fully and tried to start the ski with no luck after.
This is what happens. I put the key on the post and get the first "ready to go" beep. I hit the button and it starter tries to push it to crank on. It tries and tries then stops. After stopping I get a longer beep. I hit the start button again to see if it'll start then just beeps with no attempted at all to start, not even the starter solenoid click. I remove the key and reposition to start again. Intermittently I receive a burst of short beeps after the attempted starting. Sometimes it cranks partial and sometimes it's just the starter noise. I have attached a video of a guy who had a very similar issue with his ski as far as symptoms go. I didn't find much on it at least.
Any ideas or suggestions??? I have tried the screw driver bypass on the starter solenoid and still got it to attempt to start.
I am looking in the direction of possibly having a little water soaking in the bottom of the bilge while cleaning damaging the starter. The water wasn't that deep and was only in for 5 minutes until I drained it. Thanks for the help and suggestions.
