'01 GTX Di BLOWS FUEL INJECTOR FUSE

I'm a newbie to the forum between a rock and a hard place that could use some comment/recommendations.
After a day's worth of use on the lake, I attempted to start my Di for another ride. The normal "beep-beep" did not occur. What occured was no beep and what sounded like the fuel pump priming for a few seconds and then shutting off. This same sound can be generated by pressing the "start/stop" button. The cluster display flashes "MAINT" while the key is engaged and a small red light to the left of the "MAINT" warning is illuminated. The engine does not crank.
The battery is new and the connections are clean & tight. What I did find was the 15A (blue) fuse at the MEPM is blown (most forward fuse in a block of four). I replaced the fuse, I got the double "beep" and the ski started without problem. This lasted that run cycle; once shut off the vehicle would not restart and I was back to the original symptoms.
Off to the SeaDoo dealer, where a slightly corroded fuel injector connector was found. The connector was cleaned & the 15A fuse was replaced followed by a 15 minute test run. Unfortunately, the repair order has the statement "no problem found" (which equates to, problem still there).
The ski was returned to me and driven (started and stopped 4 times) without
difficulty. Following these starts, I took the ski out and "aired it out" . At wide open throttle, from a dead start, the ski pulled hard to about 50-53 MPH on the meter, then a engine power shut off very much like I hit the "start/stop" button. All of the original symptoms were back. I was towed back to shore and the vehicle is presently back in the hands of the SeaDoo dealer.
I'm hopeful that I'm not up against a costly repair. Any ideas as to my possible failure would be greatly appreciated. I'd like to repair my ski not cheaply, but in the most cost-effective method possible.
Your help is appreciated.

01 GTX Blows Fuel Injector Fuse

Hi,

Im new to this forum also..........And I have the same exact SeaDoo and the same exact problems! Im glad im not the only one! Ive gone to two different SeaDoo dealers.... and they are both stumped! The last dealer didnt charge me, but also did not fix the problem. I had a couple of friends of mine that are really good with schematic diagrams, tell me that they would be willing to bet it is a coil problem. After one last look at my wiring, I (not the dealers) found a chaffed ground wire right up top that rubs against the housing for the coils and stator. You can see a grey powder so the wire was arcing. I used electrical tape and put a protective loom wrap around it. I will be river testing my DI tomorrow....and will follow up with the results....

I just wanted to post back and let those who may be experiencing this concern that my ski has been fixed. I have not had the chance to ride it myself, but my son has and the ski has endured three days of "thrashing" without a problem.
On the second return visit to the dealer, I was able to leave the ski for a couple of weeks and they have a rather large lake at their back door for test driving watercraft. Armed with a box of 15a fuses, they "went at it".
They were able to recreate the condition and as I was told, with the assistance of the Sea-Doo tech people, they isolated the problem to be a faulty rave valve.
I understand that the rave valve raises/changes the height of the exhaust port and apparently the electrical functionary of the valve is wired into the
fuel injection circuit which is protected by this 15a fuse.
With the inspection/no problem found on the first visit and the actual repair including testing, part & labor on this second visit, my repair totaled about $280.00. The nearest Sea-Doo dealer was 40 miles away and I was fortunate the the shop person I spoke to lived in the next town (4 miles away). He trailered my ski to and from his house on both occasions. Good customer service.
I have owned the ski new since 2001. Besides customary/yearly maintenance/winterizing and (2) batteries, this is my first repair cost. Not a bad record.

Ok, I will probably be getting one too.....Is this the part that you replaced? rave valve solenoid 270600028? Thanks a million....

I have not seen the repair invoice yet, so I cannot say what the part number
could be. I will repost with the part number if it's listed on the invoice.

The part number on my invoice for the rave valve is: 270600044. I was told that the original valve was no longer available and that the above valve had to be used together with some new wiring connectors.

02 951 DI giving me the same problem

Ski was giving me a faulty start circuit code (Using the CanDooPro) so i dropped it off at the local dealer. Time is harder to come by the $$ these days. They replaced the solenoid and gave it back to me saying all was well.

First time in the water and it runs erratic for about 5 minutes, surging and bogging down, definately something not pretty. Start and Idle is fine, 1/4 throttle is fine, but when you apply any power at all the sputtering and surging starts, up to a max rpm of about 5500.

I park it on the dock but dont get a chance to hook up the CanDoo before getting walayed with Honey-dos. next chance I get have a look the ski I get no beeps and no start. When I put the dess on I get the fuel pump sound, when I hit the key I get the same sound and the maint light flashing. Turns out INJECTOR fuse is blown. WITH DESS OFF I GO TO SWAP FUSE, WHICH BLOWS IMMEDIATELY. WITH DESS OFF AND INJECTORS UNPLUGGED I TRY ANOTHER FUSE, WHICH AGAIN BLOWS AS SOON AS IT TOUCHES THE BLOCK.

The post above is a little suspect since there is no electical function of the RAVE valve that i can see. It seems there is a hard short to ground somewhere in this circuit. Can anyone give me a list of items that run off this circuit? My plan is to disconnect all and systematically connect one at a time until fuse failure.

Thanks,
Doug

In reviewing the post above I suppose I might have jumped the gun on the "no electical aspect" to the Rave valve. The green vacuum valve that operates them is electrical.
So I unplugged:
both fuel injectors
both coils
the knock sensor on the head
the rave actuator
the exhaust gas sensor

The fuse still blows within a half second of connecting it.

My computer is throwing a code for a Rave failure and a start circuit failure.

Any thoughts are appreciated.
Doug

These are the components that are on that fuse circuit.............
BEEPER
STARTER SOLENOID
IGNITION COILS
FUEL INJECTORS
AIR INJECTORS
RAVE SOLENOID

You're doing the correct thing by unplugging and then reconnecting until fuse blows. If it still blows after you have unplugged all of these items then you have a wiring harness shorted to ground somewhere. Good luck.
