    Yes, press mode while the check engine light is on, until you see a fault codes menu, press set and arrows to see the codes. If you shut it off, good chance the codes will no longer be active and the fault codes menu will disappear.

    Loose battery cables can cause that but they can also ruin your ECU. Very important to make sure they are clean and tight.

    That damage is typical of sc failure where the sc gear breaks and/or sc bearing failure. My guess would be that the sc failed and they did take the pto housing off and cleaned it out. If you don't find any evidence of broken ceramic washers or damage created from those, that is a good thing...

    That oil filter has more than typical but if the oil hasn't been changed in a long time that is what it will look like. You should check with a magnet to see if all of that is steel. Steel slivers and specks are normal, aluminum is not.

    Only half of the display works because it has to be flashed and married with BUDS for it to work properly. All the China ones are made by the same factory and distributed to many resellers.

    Are they scratches or residue from the protective plastic that the dealer didn't clean very well? If they are scratches, I'd take it right back.

    Wow, that's a pretty high price for a 2009 GTI. You should be able to get a 2012+ with ibr for that money. What part of the country are you in? The rattling sound was probably the pump and pretty normal for all seadoos.

    Torx racing can supply what you need. You can send your ECU to them and they can sort of test it by checking the file and see if it can be reflashed.
