    Won’t go over 5k

So I have done a top end rebuild on a 97 challenger and as I found out these 2 stroke engines are a bit different then regular engines. I should have done my homework before taking on the job but that didn’t happen so here I am asking a bunch of dumb questions trying to figure out my issues. I...

    Clamped off oil line

Thank you everyone for all your wisdom. My family has owned prop boats my whole life and for some reason I decided this time I was going to by a jet boat and I must say it is really kicking my ass! Lol still have not been able to get it out on the lake working properly but I have hope!

    Clamped off oil line

So as long as everything is running ok then all I need to do is unclamp the line during use and then clamp it again after I’m done?

    Rebuild vs new install

So mikisymac what if the engine is a SBT engine? Looks like I have one possibly original engine that was rebuilt before I bought the boat and the other engine is an SBT engine that I just did a top end rebuild on it. The SBT engine is the one that has the leaking seal. My brother in law has a...

    Rebuild vs new install

I have faith in my abilities to do it properly and I love saving money. Are there any complete rebuild kits out there that will come with all seals and gaskets or do I have to pretty much piece one together?

    Rebuild vs new install

It looks like the crankshaft oil seal is bad so I believe my only to options are to pull the engine and do a rebuild myself or buy a complete already rebuilt engine. What is everyone’s thoughts on which route is best. Can anyone point me to a solid rebuild kit? Guess I should let you know what...

    Clamped off oil line

Well that could explain why I had to rebuild the top end of the engine. The person I bought the boat from only had the boat for a little while and when I contacted him about the clamped oil line he had no clue about it so I can assume he did not unclamp the line while using. I just wish I would...

    Clamped off oil line

So I bought this 97 challenger 1800 a little over a month ago knowing I had to do a top end rebuild on one of the engines but as I’m tinkering around in the engine compartment this past week I notice one of the oil lines coming out of the oil tank is clamped off. I’m new to the Rotax engines but...

    Engine RPM

I do have an exhaust leak where the pipe head meets the pipe cone. I have a new copper gasket on order. I knew water was leaking out of it but I guess I never thought about the gasses that must be coming out also and it is right next to the intake of the engine being choked off. Ok so that...

    Engine RPM

Ok someone please explain this to me I have a 97 Sea-Doo challenger 1800 with the twin 787 engines. I’m having troubles with the carbs I believe on one engine so I put it on the water today to see if I have got the problem fixed and when I go WOT both engines only rev to about 5k BUT when I open...

    Limp mode question

2x2smoke I just meant that before the melt down he said the boat was running fine. Like I said people lie so who knows if it really was. I bought the boat about 3 weeks ago so I have never seen the boat running well. The previous owner told me he has had the boat out about 4 or 5 times this year...

    Limp mode question

So I have been seeing people talk about limp mode and I have a question. I have a 97 challenger 1800 and the engines won’t go over about 4K. The last time out I notice a pretty nice leak in the exhaust where the pipe head meets the pipe cone. Could that lose of pressure in the exhaust cause the...
