My Speedster cavitated badly when we first purchased it. I changed the carbon seals and it now runs terrific. Just a thought.

Just a thought regarding knowing when there is water in the bilge. I wonder if you could install a water sensor, the type that is often used in basements that sounds a loud alarm when it detects water. I believe they run off their own battery and would be completely independent of everything...
