Can someone enlighten me on how the start/kill switch works on the 96 XP?

I’m still working through various gremlins. The switch is so sensitive, I can even blow on it and it will kill. Do these kill switches ground the spark and not let the starter to engage again until the motor is no longer spinning and at a complete stop? Like being able to hit a kill switch on a sled , and quickly pull it back up, the machine will fire and keep running.

Reason I’m asking is that at higher Rpms, the thing just kills and comes to a complete stop. Start it up again and It will repeat more often than not. I’m thinking the switch is being depressed due to vibrations and she’s dead

Also have a upper rpm bog nd coming out of 180s with the front diving in the water but that’s a different topic I’ll ask. .

Thanks for the advice. In fact, I do have to wiggle the DESS key sometime to get it to come alive and start. Same thing happens sometime with my Ski Doo sled. Going to do a little testing and I’ll report back.

In the short term...I put a small zip tie around the lanyard,,,sometimes I get lucky and that works ....that may work for you till you get your new hardware.
