what mpem?

hey guys
a buddy of mine passed away and left me his 99 seadoo xp limited. nice machine but has been sitting up for 2 years, before he passed away it quit running on him so he took it to the service shop and they told him the mpem was bad. i am looking for a new mpem but the part
# doesnt match what everyone else is saying the part # on this one is 278001362 and the dealer is saying it should be 278001499 any help is greatly appreciated

i'd mess with the ski first, b4 spend'n 1000 buks.

I just typed in a 99 XP and the MPEM part # was 278001499. You can look it up yourself if you Google Seadoo parts. I also agree with Timmyboy, I wouldn't spend all that money on a new one or even a used one from ebay until I was sure that the MPEM was the problem. If you have any mechanical ability you should be able to troubleshoot the problem. I'm not saying it doesn't need an MPEM, but dealers are often wrong. Keep us posted.

Im going threw it now new gaskets hoses etc i found a used mpem om ebay for the same ski but has same number as dealer is saying really want to know y its diff and also can i test it someway

Thanks everyone for the help any suggestons on other things to do before i crank it up i changed hoses plugs new cdi batt and gaskets hope to be on water in two weeks is there a computer i can change in the wife to get her to act right
