Wear ring and impeller installation

2013 GTR-215 upgrading to Solas impeller and wear ring. What’s the trick to getting the impeller onto wear ring? Should I install impeller first and slide wear ring over it or install wear ring first? Such a tight fit I marked up the wear ring pretty bad before aborting. I have the impeller in the freezer now in case that is helpful. Are the wear rings directional? One end has a square edge and other has a slightly chamfered edge and I positioned wear ring with square edge down. Appreciate any insight.

Well normally with a stock ring and impeller the wear ring goes in the freezer to shrink it, it’s then installed in the housing and the impeller goes on after the wear ring is installed.

Thanks. Finally got it. Froze the impeller overnight and it shrunk just enough to squeeze it in.
