I have read all posts I could find on this topic but didn't help. So here is my story with some back ground info as well.
At the dock I noticed that port side engine water regulator cap had a small leak...maybe 1 - 2 drops per second. I closed the lid and took it out. I ran it for about 10 min at about 3/4 throttle then I cut the throttle back to idle and the port side engine stalled out. It started right back up but would not go above 3k RPMs. If I tried to take it past 3K it would just kill the engine. I limped it back to dock and the exhaust pipes were cool to the touch. I changed out my spark plugs and it did the same thing. One of the spark plugs did look fouled and one looked normal. I am on my first tank of gas out of storage and there is STA BIL and Ethnol Treatment in the tank as well.
Any ideas on the RPM thing? I am not too worried about the water box regulator because I will just tear into that and rebuild. Thanks for your help.
Initial thoughts: Bad carb adjustment or a clogged fuel filter.
