I bought a 2012 GTI 130 in June. I have put 25 hours already on it and looking at that or more for the next couple of years. The point I'm making is it will get used a lot. Should I buy the extended warranty?? Money is a issue, but just wondering what everyone in here thought about a extended warranty for a new machine. I am a first time owner by the way. Just wondering if its worth it. I would hate to do a rebuild in a year or so. How good are these motors? Are they built to be hammered on? Any response would be great.

As your last line states, it's worth it to get the extended warranty - then you have no worries regardless. That being said, these motors have been around for many years and are pretty dang reliable.

Insurance against accidents or sinking may be more worthwhile in your case... it's more likely to get damaged in an accident or sunk than to have a mechanical failure that would be covered by warranty, IMHO.

I, too, would like opinions. I purchased a '12 GTi and don't run it that much. 16 hours in 4 months. I have full coverage insurance, but held off on extended which they told me I could buy later. Worth it?

Skip the extended warranty. There's nothing much that can go wrong with that motor. I'd just insure because fiberglass and gel coat repair is expensive. Trust me I know lol.
