Hi folks - new member here. I've had my 95 XP for about a year now and I'm lovin' it! I live on Lake Ontario in Rochester, NY. My 95 XP just started screaching at me. It's that high pitched warning buzzer. Under what conditions does that go off? Is it overheating or could the sensor just be bad? None of the warning lights are coming on and I checked the most obvious things like oil level and such. Any words of wisdom would be highly appreciated. I felt the motor to see how hot it was and it just hot enough so I couldn't hold my hand on the heads for more than just a few seconds. Didn't seem overly hot to me. I'm hoping to fix this without taking it to the local shop since It's a major pain to get it out of the water.

My 95 gtx has a switch on the center of the head that sets the buzzer off if it runs too hot it is one wire between the 2 spark plugs on the 650, Does it go off as soon as you start or after you run it for a while , if after you run it for a while could be too hot if immediate just unplug that switch and see if it goes away if so get a new one and replace it.

good point. It only starts buzzing after about 2 or 3 minutes of operation. But like I said, I was able to put my hand directly on the engine and exhaust manifold for a couple seconds. So it didn't seem all that hot.

So tonight I rode the ski ('95 XP 720) a few minutes until the high-temp alarm starts ringing. I unplug the heat sensor as the engine is running and the alarm goes off (duh). Plug it back in, it starts again. So now I know for sure it isn't some other thing like low oil reservoir or something. It's definitely the heat sensor.

Then, I feel the engine. I seems to be running cool to me. I can put my hand right on the head, although the front cylinder is running hotter than the rear. (Is this normal?)

Next, I pull the cooling hose off the front of the engine. When I start the engine, water is coming out like a garden house, so my assumption is there are no blockages in the motor. It's running freely through the engine.

Then I pull the heat sensor right out to see if water will shoot out. It doesn't. Is it supposed to? Is that thing supposed to be submersed in water from the cooling system?

I am not sure i don't think it is in the water thing it is reading metal temp ie; if you don't have water flow no temp alarm but again i am not sure. maybe some one who knows more about this will reply sorry.
