Vts question

I’m aware of the vts issues that are possible. The boots leak and fry either the vts motor or module. I haven’t seen this specific issue resolved. So my vts is stuck in the up position, when I hit the “down” button I can hear it click in the vts and nothing happens, when I hit the up button I don’t hear or see anything. I’m assuming because it is already all the way up.
Is there a chance that my vts module is fine and it will only need the motor? The gauge works and shows it in the up position. I know I can manually move it (did that with my gsx) but on an x4 it’s pretty much a necessity for me.
The 7.5 amp fuse in the rear e-box is intact.

I haven't experienced an issue yet on my GSX, but what I'd do is take it apart and see if you can separate the motor from the assembly. At that point you can verify the voltage on the lines that would connect to the motor. Then with the motor removed, jump 12 volts to it. For whatever reason the motor is frozen, you could spray electrical cleaner/lubricant in the motor to get it moving. May be worth a try.

I think your other alternative is to buy another VTS motor assembly.

Yeah that would be a great way to try it, thanks! I’ll have to try that. I just want some hope that I won’t have to buy a new vts module

95% of the ones I have seen bad, it's the module not the motor.

the motors seem fairly bulletproof. My XP had one that the boot was torn on. The previous owner must have completely ignored this for a while because the motor was very rusty. I ran a wire brush over it, painted it and slapped it back in and it worked perfectly.

The issue that happens with the vts is almost always going to be the valve reads in the box that are made of glass (good call seadoo?) This was the case for mine. Drop on by Seadoo VTS Trim Fix and pick one of these up 99% sure it will fix your problem.

I thought I heard bad things about the trim fix, like that it doesn’t stop when it gets to the top or bottom so you have to watch your gauge? I could be wrong

depends if you follow the directions to completion. You can install the trim fix and do nothing else and the vts will work, but it will allow the screw to go too far out.

in the directions for trim fix there is a second modification that requires you to shave off the first couple of threads on the screw. once you have done that it will no longer be able to go too far in either direction.

the ski i have mine on has about 10 hours of use and I have had no issues after shaving the screw threads down.
