I tightened mine where it almost closes the gap, a firm squeeze with the pliers until it doesn't click any further and you're fine.

Ok thx. When I put pliers to it it'll squeeze tighter but keeps bouncing back to this spot.

As long as it is squeezing the rubber boot it's fine.
