Tow speed and what to clamp?

I've been hearing two different things about being towed in these boats.

One that it doesn't matter that if you're towed at any speed you can mess up the motor or the other that if you stay under a certain mph you should be ok.

Regardless I have been having some issues with the boat lately and haven't been clamping off and I can't seem to find the specific tubes to clamp. It all looks like a mess down there. Also what can I use to clamp the hoses?

The Operator's Guide says "If your Sea-Doo sport boat must be towed in water and you do not have a hose pincher, be sure to stay well below the maximum towing speed of 24km/h (15 MPH)"

As far as which line to pinch, it says to pinch the supply line. That's the hose on the left side of the impeller housing (right side if you're in the boat looking into the engine compartment). I've read there are other options, but that's what BRP recommends. If I were you I'd think about putting a shut off valve on the hose.

That info was from the 06 Operator's Guide. I just noticed the 2011 Guide says to pinch the hose in a different location. Specifically the exhaust outlet hose. This would be much easier to pinch than the supply line. Page 82 of the 2011 guide shows a pretty good picture of where to pinch the hose. If you don't have the Guide click here http://www.operatorsguides.brp.com

Thanks. I actually checked that out just after I posted. The manual makes it look easier than it does when looking through the bay but I also took a screenshot for future reference.

Does it matter what I clamp with or is "hose clamp" a pretty generic thing I can get anywhere?

Do a Google search on "Automotive Hose Pinchers" and you'll find a number of different types available online.

Or just install a valve and call it a day. No need to search for clamps or hose pinchers.
This is what I wanted....there was a post about forever ago and I just couldn't remember until now. Just want to make sure I do the right hose, lol.
