Hey guys, pretty new to this forum. I have a 95 xp 720 that I have a few questions about. My tether only has the 2 wires. I was having trouble with my ski not turning over so I checked the switch and it was gone. I replaced it with just a normal toggle switch and it runs perfectly again but I would rather have a tether. I ordered one online and it was wired so that with the tether is on there’s not continuity between the two wire posts and when you take it off the circuit is connected.I tried the dealership and they are discontinued. What is everyone else using for aftermarket tethers and where can I buy one?

Are you sure it is a 1995 XP? The parts diagram shows it having DESS, not a simple lanyard switch.

You don't want a toggle switch and in many states that is illegal, you have to have a lanyard kill switch.

You need the correct one for your year, some are normally open and some are normally closed.

I mean I know that someone has been poking around with it because the previous owner had a switch rigged up before me. I had the ebox apart and the third wire coming from the mpem is capped off so I guess that could be a new mpem but as far as I know it isn’t. Also im in Newfoundland Canada and I only go on little ponds around my area, I'm just worried about falling off and me not being able to get it again. I read some forums and my vins last 2 digits are 95. I just put on the switch to see if that was my issue of why it wasn’t starting but I haven’t had it in the water yet. Mine definitely needs a normally closed circuit to run tho I tested it with my meter. Thanks for the response and all the info on here it helps a lot

Thank you ! I know what you’re saying but someone must have changed something around in my ebox. Ive looked through it and like I said it seems like someone maybe replaced the mepm or did something but as of right now it’s only the 2 wires and it starts and runs fine
