seadoo GTS 1993

Just bought a 95 spi, has been sitting in the guys garage for about 5 years, he said it ran great though last time he had it out. I took it to the lake, it started easy. It runs great on about half to 3/4 throttle but when you open it up it boggs, then after awhile it will stall. So far I put in new gas, new fuel filter, cleaned the carb. Could the filters in the carbs be causing this problem? if i keep running it will the carb clean itself and start to run fine? Someone also told me to check baffles or something like that, Whats a baffle? Thanks for the help

Could the filters in the carbs be causing this problem?

yeah, and if it still has the gray fuel lines, theyshould be replaced, or it will happen again. The gray lines deteriorate into the fuel, and glunk it all up.

Clean filter at bottom of fuel baffle, in the tank.
Clean the fuel select valve.
Clean the carb filters
REplace all hoses.

And, ride like there is no tomorrow!

If you've ripped thru fuel system/carbs, and still problem, disconnect the red wire from rectifier, then fire'ur back up...

Ok thanks, and the fuel lines in the seadoo have been replaced and are clear, and about the rectifier, what is that and will it fix the problem?

Please explain to me what a rectifier is, will removing the red wire and hooking it back up fix my problem? How hard is this to do?

disconnect it from the post, maybe put tape on end of it. If the bog'n problems go away, then you need to replace the rectifier. Here's why...
The rectifier/regulator box does two things. It recieves AC voltage generated by the stator coils through the yellow wires. It then converts that AC power to DC power using the rectifier portion. The red wire sends back to the battery, regulated DC voltage to keep your battery charged while riding the ski.
When the rectifier quits working, that red wire is sending AC voltage to the DC battery. Your ignition runs off DC power as it is a DC CDI ignition. When AC is sent, it interferes with the DC CDI. If you can picture the static your car radio has when under high power lines you can understand how the AC effects the ignition.

A magneto produces very little voltage at lower rpm and more voltage at higher rpm. That is why the motor will start and run decent at lower rpm, but run very ragged at higher rpm when the rectifier is shot.

Also i forgot to mension when you turn the gas to -on- it seems it doesnt lock in, it wobbles around, could that be causing issue? If so, is it an easy fix? Thanks

The fuel select switch is fairly easy to disassemble, and re-assemble. However, if it needs any parts, you could be stuck.

Take the rubber plug out of the top. Take the screw out of the hole. Remove the switch knob. Now, remove the large nut, and drop the select valve down inside the doo.
Now, look at your hoses, and use a bit of tape to mark where the hook up.

Now, remove the fuel select hoses.

Now, there is a little screw that comes off, and the selector valve comes off. Take it all apart, and clean it, and check the seals.
Assemble it with a bit of oil, or spray silicone, to make it work better.
Mine was a bit gunked up with residue from the fuel lines. I cleaned mine out with carb cleaner.

Mine is nice and crisp.
