Can someone confirm there is a #13 bolt on the bottom of the starter? I read it could be an Allen to. Either way, I cannot even feel it or see it w/a mirror. How do u get to it? I've put a couple extensions together and poked around but no luck hitting anything

Maybe you could put some modelling clay or play dough on the end of your extension and get an impression of what's there? Only thing I can think of. Mine is hex on top but I think I saw a YouTube video other day where he says his bottom was Allen.

The one on mine is a hex. When i pulled the motor this summer, looks like someone left it out, im guessing becuase it is a pain to remove with the motor in.

I'll assume this is a 787? If so, all mine have ever been are socket head cap screws (Allen screw) and they're from the front. The to one had a nut that has to be removed first. The only hex on the starter is the one for the ground cable on the ear of the starter with a star washer. On the back of the starter there is a third mounting screw, also a socket head cap screw. All of these should be visible with a mirror. If you haven't removed the air box yet you're just compounding your stress level. You can kinda see it here in kickers pic.

Well, I got that bottom bolt out. It was a hex. Now there's another hex holding a bracket the starter is connected to. Geez SeaDoo! Any tips on that bolt. This is assanine. I think it'd b easier to unbolt the motor

Sorry for my mis guided post about the 787 stuff. I couldn't tell what you were working on from my phone.

Maybe do some padding with towels and CAREFULLY do some prying back and forth with a crow bar or big screw driver. Be very careful unless you know the starter is bad anyway.

Ok...I've got 3 bolts from the front of the starter out and 1 bold from some mounting bracket that went into the engine. This starter just will not move. Am I missing something?

There are two bolts that go through the starter into the MAG cover and one on the tail of the starter that goes into the bottom of the cases. Once those are out it is just an o-ring on the front of the starter that seals to the cases and will pull straight out to the back.

I've hit it, pushed it, pulled it, pried it...doesn't even hint at moving. I pulled 2 bolts from the front that were mounting bolts, 1 from the front where the ground connected, and 1 at the rear that secured the mounting bracket up into the engine case for a total of 4 all together.
