Spark Plug boot

I have a 2005 GTI FRI (787 motor) and the spark plugs have a rubber collar/boot around them. This inhibits me from getting my socket on the plug. How do I remove without destroying/damaging this rubber collar?
It does not seem to be addressed in the service manual???

They just pull up and off. That is what the tab is for.

Got it, Thanks! They were kinda stuck but I pried them up.
Ps-New spark plugs cured the rough running. -)
