Seadoo GTX turning off at mid speed.

So my friend has a Seadoo GTX i believe 1999, He cleaned out the carbs and replaced the old gas with new,Since it been sitting for about 2 years..It turns on perfect, But when we test drove it.. Once you reach the speed of about 20 or 30.. it bogs out and turns off.. What could be causing this problem?

How does it die? Does it try and run or just shut off like someone hit the kill switch?

Its either fuel or spark. Give us a little more info to work with.

I've had the same problem with 94 gtx..think i;ve narrowed it down to 'fuel delivery' problem...possible clogged mag carb, or water in in system..filters need cleaned..all of them..also check fuel selector vavle and baffle filter

Well i do think it has something to do with fuel delivery, The ski bogs out like at mid speed getting to 20 or 30.. It turns right back up with no problem.. Like if you're accelerating to like 15mph.. It stays on with no problem.. As soon as it picks more speed up.. It shuts off.. or i could say.. Bogs out...

yea, laze, thats the same prob I've been having...had top end re-built and both carbs re-built, thankfully, I know some good peeps round here in FL that help me out, and have been skiin for many year..BUT experienced the same "bog" problem since the work had been done. I really think, down here in FL, the carbs and small filters clog rapidly with the sand, seaweed..and ect, even maybe 'watered down"gas could cause this problem.. the small filter in the 'storage compartment' should be checked as we as the baffle filter...gas should be run out and "good" gas put in...and go from there...may be a "clog" in the PTO carb..high end carb at the rear of ski...good luck and i need it as well

Do you get a large expell of air when you open the gas cap? If so, use your pop-off tester on both breath line check valves. These should open at about 3-5 psi when pumping up. Over pressure in the gas tank can open the needle valves in the carburetor(s). Check your *plugs
and see if wet.
