I have been trying to help a friend get his GTX RFI running. We are down to replacing the battery. The old battery was out before I saw it come out. I am not sure how to hook I up correctly. Mainly because there is one battery cable coming out from the black electrical box under the rectifier. I have no idea what that is supposed to connect to. I found where the battery is supposed to sit, and the neg and pos cable hook ups for it, but wasn't sure if I'm supposed to hook this other cable up to it as well. Wouldn't make sense though, since it doesn't reach.

On mine, just the positive and neg hook to the battery. The other wire your referring to what colour is it? I know there are 3- 14/16 ga wires supposed to hook up under the positive on the starter relay coming from the battery. (In the rear electrical box) Could possibly be one of those. They should all have inline fuses on them.

It's a red cable. Looks like another positive battery cable. Does it connect to the starter? If so, can someone post a picture of the starter in the engine bay, so I'll know exactly where I hook it up?

I've been google image searching for this for 3 days to no avail. Of course my wife says I'm terrible at searching on google. I even typed in exactly what you said to search for and it still does not show me what I'm looking for. Coming from the black electrical box is the red positive cable to the battery, the black negative cable to the battery... And then on the other side is another red cable going to nothing. Are you guys saying to connect it to the starter relay? I am sorry to annoy. I've downloaded the shop manual and the user manual and cannot figure this out. The exploded diagrams confuse the heck out of me. If this was under the good of my CJ7 it would already be fixed. I'm a watercraft noob. Thanks for all the help so far guys.

Man that was a tight squeeze! I'm 6'5" 275 lbs., so it was pretty frustrating trying to get down in there and put that cable on. I got it though. I think haha. The new battery is settling now, then I'll let it charge tonight, hook it up in the morning and give it a start. Fingers crossed...

IT'S ALIIIIIIIIIVE!!!!

Cranked right up this morning. I only let it idle for about 15 seconds & shut it off. Taking it to the water tomorrow for a test.

What should I be looking & listening for to make sure everything's good?
