Hello,

We have a problem with our Seadoo 2010 130 GTI. Normally we store it in a warm place for the winter, but because of a sudden change in our route we could not unload it from our ship and it was outside for all winter also in -15 degrees celsius temperature.

This summer we tried to start it, which worked for a while but after stopping it, it wouldn't start anymore.

What we tried so far:
- Renew battery
- Renew start solenoid
-Check all fuses
-Check wiring visually
-Measured resistance on starting relay (both positions)
-Visually checked starting relay (saw it engaging)

I tried starting by putting the cable on the non-hot side of the solenoid (going to the starter) straight on the battery. That worked, engine started which lead me to believe the starter and engine are fine. Then I tried jumping the (new type black) solenoid, got a spark but didn't start and then the power was completely gone. After 30 minutes I could get power on it but after pushing start one time it completely switched off again. (Some sort of safety?)

Any ideas?

Many thanks in advance!

Does anyone know if there is some sort of safety that cuts the power when starting the engine fails? Now we have power and hear the solenoid click when we press the start button but the engine won't start (no power going to the starter) and the display will switch off and after this if you remove and put back the key the display will not switch on again.

Can this be a faulty starter relay?

I cleaned all earth cables, busbars, relay.

I also have a starting problem with 2009 GTI 130. When I push start it turns over once, then nothing and about 2 seconds later it turns over and starts fine. It started doing this last summer, but not this long delay. Could it be as simple as a new battery or solenoid? Where is the solenoid?
TIA

Found positive cable from battery to solenoid was not making good contact, but still the solenoid is only clicking and engine not turning over. Putting the cable on the other side of solenoid straight on the battery will turn over and start the engine, I think this rules out an earth problem? Ordered a new starter relay and will try that, but was wondering if the diode could also be toast?

When I put the DESS key it gives 2 beeps so that is also not the problem I guess..

@andyb2 your solenoid is the (in your case probably brown) thing where your red (positive) cable from you battery first goes. It's always good to test your battery, they often need replacing after a few years of service.

After you try to start it a couple of times , feel the wire ends to see if they are hot , you may have high resistance and need a new cable. I solder all mine to get rid of that issue.

That was indeed the problem, cable was corroded inside. Tried with cable from one of the welding machines and started right up!

Electrical issues are the best.. ohwell, now we have a spare solenoid and battery haha.

Thank you!
