Hey all,

I have a 2001 SeaDoo GS, the 'Tell Tail" or "Pisser" doesn't work, the line is not clogged, but no water comes out of it.

Looking at it, the way it's T-ed off the water drain line under the exhaust manifold, I can see why no water comes out of it. Water like many things will ALWAYS take the path of least resistance.

The tube that runs off the T is smaller then both the lines that come into and out of the T and it also runs up hill.

I have looked in the 2001 GS manual, and on one page it shows that the "tell Tail" should actually be coming straight off the T instead of off the bottom part of the T. Yet on another page in the manual, it shows it coming off the bottom part of the T.

I've looked at a few other manuals of the 717's cooling system, and they all show the "Tell Tail" coming straight off the T.

So my question to fellow GS owners (and/or those that have experience with them), is #1 does your "tell tail" work? and #2 how is it routed off the T fitting.

Thanks,

i don't think you will see it working if you are running it on the hose. Have you looked at it in the water with some throttle?
good luck

Yeah, I've followed behind the wife driving the GS, and no water comes out of the pisser, atleast not up to 1/4 throttle.

What would be the point of a tell tail if no water comes out of it at a speed at which you could actually look at it to know your cooling system isn't clogged??

not sure, but i know mine on the LRV is in the back and it does not spray unitl you get going about half throttle. Not sure if the venturi can generate enough suction at idle to feed the engine AND the pisser line or if it is some other situation...

Well that is completely useless then. They put it in the back, which already makes it very hard to even check it while running on the water, then it doesn't put out ant water untill 1/2 throttle!! Why even have it then?

My 96' GSX has water coming out at idle, but the line comes off the stinger pipe and doesn't do to anything else, so the water has no other options other than to go out the pisser. (Which is how it should be!).

I rode a 96' yamaha 3 seater and it had the pisser coming out the left side of the hull just infront of the foot well. That was a good place for it, as at any time, at any speed you could just look down and see if water was squirting out.

The way SeaDoo has it in the back, you'll never know when your cooling system clogs up untill you get an over heat buzzer, by then it's too late and you've already scored cylinders.
