My 1998 GSX will start up just fine, and run for 1-3 minutes. After these 1-2 minutes the 15 am'p fuse will blow. First the fuse on the MPEM blew after we replaced this fuse started the seadoo again the 15 amp fuse in the solenoid box blew. The 5 amps used to blow also but we disconected the VTS wires (because it was broken) now the 15 amps are blowing. We disconected the battery and checked for continuity between the 5 amp fuse connector and the ground wire. We had an open circut. What do we need to do to our seadoo to resolve this problem. Can we do it ourselfs or do we need to take it to a shop?

check your ground cable and coil stud bolts for corrosion. Make sure, ALL connections/cables arent corroded/broken.

Having similar problem

I keep blowing my 15 amp fuse also but now I can't even get power to the module or controls. What's worse is I think I smell a hot wire when I put the new fuse in now. I hope someone helps you out and maybe it will help me also. Good luck

Burned connector

Hello,

Don't know if it will help you any but I found the connector going to the flywheel cover for the magneto was melted. I unhooked the red wire leading to it and stopped blowing the fuse and ski will run now. I think it might be my magneto is shorting out or something. Still looking into it deeper. Good luck.

Go to this link to start testing to see if it is your stator or general area

But if you unplug the stator connector and replace fuses and it doesn't blow its your stator causing problems just don't let it run to long if you decide to start it cause if there is a piece of metal in there it could cause more damage. You will need a digital multimeter to find out if your stator is bad or not too.

locate the rectifier, and take gander at it, or wit hred wire disconnected, rev motor up, and volt test the battery, while rev'n, if at 12-ish or anywhere in 15 volts, replace the rectifier.
