Sea doo 787 GSX

Hello I’ve ridden jet skis for years but recently my uncle just gave me his ‘96 787 GSX. GÿHe bought it brand new and was super picky about it. He stored it the last three seasons and never ran it. I got it this season and he said he let someone ride it once and they put cheap oil in it and since then the top end has struggled. I cleaned the RAVE valves as they were all gunked up. That helped my issue. But he’s never done anything to the engine other than the typical trim issues. It I’m gonna tear it down this winter and put a top end in it. Any suggestions among other things??

Do a compression test before you start planning a top end rebuild... If the compression is fine, then just do your normal ski maintenance like going through the fuel system, filters, grease points, and pump oil change...

150 is perfect and at 120 it is in bad need of a rebuild.
