RX-DI bogging problems

I recently purchased a 2002 Sea Doo RX-DI, with 120 hours on it. The compression is good, it idles fine, and top speed is fine. However, it seems to bog down in any of the following situations:
  1. Giving it a lot of throttle, letting go of the throttle, and then giving it throttle again
  2. Right after jumping a wave (when you hear the engine rev higher because your out of the water)
  3. When your accelerating out of a power turn

Basically, it seems to stay around 4000-4300 RPMs no matter how much throttle your giving it. And then if you play with the throttle, within a few seconds, it surges forward to the correct RPMs. When you accelerate from idle, it seems to be fine.

We changed the fuel filter and checked the fuel pressure. And then we cleaned the RAVE valves, and changed out the o-rings/gaskets, which didn't help any.

Does anyone have any ideas of what to try next? Thanks in advance!

Three things come to mind.
1. When you shut off your ski using the stop button, do you hear the rave valves cycle two times. If not the rave solenoid is probably going bad.
2. Might be your TPS (throttle position sensor) is slightly out of range and needs to be re calibrated. You will need a buds system or a candoo pro for that.
3. New spark plugs??

Thanks for the suggestions. I took off the RAVE valve covers and verified that they did cycle properly when shutting off the machine. The spark plugs look fine, but I will replace them before the next time we go out, just in case.

Now I have to decide whether I want to invest in a candoo pro, or take it to a dealer (We do have 2 ski doo snowmobiles as well). I'm also thinking about just replacing both TPS, because they are not that expensive, just to eliminate them from the list of possible problems.

You mentioned you checked fuel pressure. What were your numbers?

Well, the pressure gauge my Dad has only goes up to 100 PSI, but it maxed out on the gauge, so we called it good. This was measured while running it on the trailer.

I suspect you have a fuel pressure problem. I have seen many DI that hit 102... 103 etc psi and bog like you describe while under load. You need to verify 107 plus when the bog occurs.

This is where I would look next if it were me.

You mentioned you changed the fuel filter. Is this the gray one on the top of the tank? If so, there are two inside the tank also. I dont remember the part numbers off the top of my head, but if you do a search on the boards, they are listed. These filters are available at Advanced Auto. You might not be getting enough volume for the engine at those RPMs
