Replacing airbox with filters?

Can you? Yes. Should you? No.

THe 951 can't tolerate any water ingestion at all if you want it to live. Aftermarket intake filters provide a direct path into the engine for water and the factory airbox does a very good job of keeping it out. Also there is little to no performance to be gained and you will have to rejet the carbs. Finally the K&N filters are junk and will not flow any air when wet so they should not be used in any watercraft.

That makes sense. Any other alternatives to that ugly black box? Again, not looking for performance, just looks. I guess I could just paint it.

Just looking to fancy it up is all. Not a necessity, just personal satisfaction. But I obviously don't want ot jeopardize the engine itself.

The best thing you can do to a 951 is keep it stock, feed it API-TC full synthetic oil and fog it after every ride.

I used a R-D flame arrestor with an outer wear on it to keep water out which it did. I ran it for about 12 years with no issues. You will have to rejet the carbs which is a pain. It will run better, better acceleration and top speed.

Listen to Miki. I know from experience - he knows what he's talking about. Leave the stock airbox on it
