I have a 1997 bombardier seadoo Gtx 787. Carbureted

I have a rectifier wire issue i do not know which wire goes to what plug as I cut the connections off yess ik rookie

Ok, opened up the box on my '96 GTX and looks to be the same. Red wire goes to pink wire in mpem that I'm holding. Three yellows go back to mag plug-in

I hooked the system up to a battery no engine is present so I don't have a engine ground but I do have the ground from the rear box I have everything hooked up but the rectifire can't cause it not to beep can it ? I have checked everything I thought of

You won't get any beeps or power without the main ground or mag plugged in

Plug the mag housing in or if you have the stator removed from the housing run a bolt/nut through one of the mounting holes and a piece of wire back to the battery neg. You must have both the rear box and the stator grounded for anything to come on.

I have searched and searched even through the manual and I couldn’t find anything that stated what you said and it actually makes sense

I just hooked it up and still nothing what do u suggest

I'm not sure what you're trying to accomplish, you're replacing a rectifier and the engine is out? I assume you're also replacing the stator judging from the other posts on FB, which explains the engine out, though it could be changed with the engine in.

Again, both the stator and the rear box need to be grounded at the battery negative for the ski to come on. If you can't get that to work, just put it all back together and put the engine back in and go from there.

FWIW, most always it doesn't matter which yellow combination is connected except maybe one case I think, for OEM rectifier/regulator 278000443 the center yellow is connected internally inside the regulator to the red output lead. You can test for continuity between this yellow wire and the red wire to confirm I still don't think it matters which yellow goes to the other though, but that's how the factory connected them. I recommend this way though, b/c the center yellow would go to center tap of the stator coil.

Red wire goes to battery +, through a fuse (10A?) 1st then eventually battery + terminal.
Metal case of RR MUST be grounded.
Center yellow wire of regulator (in the case of OEM Factory 278000443 regulator) will always be hot with 12V DC from battery,

I used this 278000443 regulator to convert an old non-regulated battery killing over-charger into a nice regulated charger, gave it a new purpose instead of destroying batteries. See attached diagram.

But you have a 2nd ski to compare, so this helps.

Lastly, buzzers do die, so your buzzer might be dead!Tympanium Regulator Center tapped.jpg

I have 2 1996 gsx and 1 1997 GTX the computer and regulator are different 96 has a black wire 97 doesn't I haven't built the engine yet but I could bolt it back together I'm just trying to test the electronics as I am trying to get one running for me and my girl but electrical stumps me I have grounded the stater separated from the engine and the rear box is grounded I get power through the wires up front and 3 amps so could it be the computer and I also might state I have a three skis of the same parts except computer I have stripped all three and used all dess post and buzzer sorry for long paragraph

The stator is plugged up (6 pin plug) and chassis grounded back to the battery - ? Ground at one of the 3 bolt holes, use a bolt and nut through it and a decent piece of wire say 14 - 16 gauge. Without the lanyard on the DESS post, when you press the start/stop button do the gauges come on? If everything is plugged in up front and all fuses good, those 2 points, (rear box and stator) should at least light up the gauges. I'm doing the same test at the moment on the 96' GSX project, I'm lighting gauges up but having an issue on the DESS post and not getting 2 beeps when applying the lanyard. I've got another DESS post coming hoping to resolve it.

Double check your small black negative wire at the rear box, double check you're connecting the #1 large red, the one with the small red wires running to the 2 fuses in the rear box.

You can do a direct 12v test on the buzzers to check them, just jump to the pins on the buzzer plug. Double check me on it, but I believe the purple / tan is +.

Just like this, plug into the harness then connect the wire at the battery. It'll then energize.

In addition to connecting the rectifier, he's trying to get the electronics on without the engine in the hull, couple separate objectives he's trying to accomplish.

Yes, I see that now. You're describing the MPEM ground path through the stator connector. I don't have the schematic on hand but the ground pin of that connector should suffice?

Yes, but just plugging up the stator and grounding is easier than tapping the pin on that connector. Least it was to me....and it worked.

Yes I'm trying to test all parts to see what’s good my 96 gsx the red light came on once so I’m guessing I just need a key I will try to flash the gauges on and thanks to you all for the help so fast I just have problems with the 97 gtx I can’t get it to come on i was told the key was programmed but sill nothing the small wire is grounded from the rear box and than the other two grounds but nothing
