I have been reading this forum for awhile trying to determine the right Sea Doo for our family. I have finally come across the seemingly hard to find Utopia. This one is a 2004 listed for $10,500 and state its has less than 150 hours. My real concern is that they also state the engine has been rebuilt. When I inquired as to why with only 150 hours, they reponded that they would take no less then $9,750 and it was due to an inexperienced operator grounding it on a sand bar and ingesting sand and rocks. Should this be a reason to walk away from this vessel, as this would be my first jet drive? I plan to look it over this weekend. From the pics is has been stored outside. I plan to pay particular attention to the intake grate and impeller, is there anything else?

This is my first post. What a great asset this forum has been by reading all the other posts. Kudos.

When you get a chance to test it, either in the water or with a hose attached, start the engine turn the steering wheel to port and starboard, full lock and you should see the tach go up from 1000 rpm max is 1800 but I would not let it get to that on the hose. If you don't see or hear the engine rev up then you have to check the low speed steering cable system and depending on the engine model 240EFI or 250DFI they are slightly different (Sea doo issue not Merc issue)

I second that. Trying and testing it out is a way to be sure with the performance a product. You should test the engine of 2004 Seado Utopia. Worth it if it has a great performance!
