Does anyone have a 96 or 97 GTX that has a rear boarding step that would be willing to take a couple of pics of it and post. I want to put one on and I found a nice used one but it says it is for a 1999 GTX RFI. I believe the hulls are the same. The only thing I am concerned about is the exhaust on the 96-97 as it comes through the back of the ski opposed to the RFI does not appear to (based on some pictures I was able to dig up). Just want to be sure I don't run into any issues with the exhaust outlet bein too close, etc.

Thanks

I have two in my garage that I'm pretty sure were removed from a 96 gtx and a 97gtx that I think are identical in size if you find this one doesn't fit (I believe they are pretty universal) shoot me a PM and I can unload one cheap.

If you just need measurements I can do that too.

Thanks Spim. I'll let you know if this one won't fit.

Anyone know what kind of mounting hardware you need to put one of these on? I read something about using AVK inserts on the Aqua Step installation instructions. Anyone familiar with those? And of course the hardware would have to be stainless.

I can show you a pic of what the hardware looks like, Its just 3 screws on each side and a plate that cover's it....

your purchase should include everything needed to mount it. and those steps shouldn't sell for more than $30,,,, I had two listed for $30 each for 60 days and ended the listing because nobody bought them and tossed them back on the shelf.

From end to end 27" This is an Aqua step, which is the only brand I've ever seen TBH.

the 3 screws go right into the hull, the long bolt with the nut holds the bracket covers on.

Pic's...

Thanks Spim, this is very helpful. So it looks like they just use stainless self tapping screws to attach it to the hull. This does not look like the step I bought though. Mine looks like this.

Sorry for the small pic

ya, your's looks different, might be the same width tho just a different shape, what are the side to side measurements?

frankly, once you have it in hand and are standing in the back of the ski, you'll know the status pretty quick.

I've never mounted one, just removed it, but it looks like its just drilled into the thick part of the glass on the rear, lots of meat back there.

I didn't receive it yet, but it looks like ones I've seen on other similar hulls. Thanks again for all of the info and for taking the pics. Big help. And it's good to know there is a lot of meat in the hull at the mounting location. This was another concern I had. I think I'll be fine. I'll let you know how it goes

Since you are good to go JJ, Spim agreed to offload the steps to me. I am also in Phoenix so maybe we can compare after the install? Hoping to hit Pleasant tomorrow for a shakedown of my first of two Seadoo minor resto's and if it goes well step install will be next!

Yes we should definitely meet up sometime. Funny thing though, I used to go to Pleasant all the time, but I've recently moved to the East Valley, so now I do Saguaro and Canyon mainly. I think I saw those two skis you have on CL. Those are both great models and I think you'll be happy with them.
