Protection for foot wells?

Hey everyone,

Looking for a cheap but reliable way to protect the side of my footwells. I've noticed my heel rubs into the gel coat a lot when I ride (in the same spot every time). The ski already had a light abrasion in the area (you can't see it, you can only feel it) but I want to make sure I don't make it worse over time.

I thought about just putting some traction mat up there but there has to be a better resource than spending $50 on a sheet of blacktip when I only need a small piece on each side.

I thought about getting small cuts of that clear vehicle wrap but wasn't sure if it would hold when there's water in the wells.

Thanks guys

I have a couple of small remnants at my house, black cut groove with self adhesive on back, i'll let go pretty cheap, like $10.
what I have should be fine if you don't plan on running the entire length, but plenty if you want to do just like 4" x 10" ?
I'll have to look at how big my remnants are, they're tucked in the garage somewhere.
I planned on adding some small pieces myself to the side but haven't done it yet.
if black cut doesn't work maybe another member has some laying around.

Harbor Freight has these sheets of soft grey diamond cut mat used for standing on like by a workbench, it is basically hydroturf. It is like 7.99 a roll. Cut it out how you want it, a mat is like 2'x6' so go crazy, and throw some glue on the back and call her done if you are going the cheap route
