Possible cavitation?

Had skis out last two days and they ran great. Went out today and when throttling up on one of the skis, it misses. Still seems to have good/full power, but it's like it's missing or something. This happens the whole way through the throttle.

Could this be a fuel (bad gas/dirty carb) issue, or something with the drive (impeller/carbon seal) issue?

It has a new wear ring & when I looked under the ski the impeller looks fine with no chunks out of it or bent blades and nothing wrapped around the shaft. From what I can see the wear ring still looks fine and the ski does not appear to be taking on any water either. There's always a couple small bit in there (always has been...not even enough to have more than a few drops come out the drain plug). Oh...I do see light between the blades and the ring, but not much...idk if that's normal?

On my gti 2003 the ground wire got loose from vibration and caused the whole ski to be cutting but still work. Check it on yours just to be sure.

Sorry for the late reply (it is Holiday after all). OK, so it is not that. How is your ski at idle? Running smooth? Starting well? And if you press the throttle gently, do you get the issue (like at 10 mph and below?). BTW, I have no experience at all with the impeller. And if you go to idle to WOT (wide open throttle), does it skips or something while accelerating (like not being constant)? Of course, I assume that you have replaced your spark plugs and check the gas filter for sand/debris and/or water in it (beware not to lose your gasket/o-ring when cleaning: happened to me). Another thing: if you pull your spark plugs connectors of the main wire, make sure there is no oxidation (green stuff) in there. There was some in mine and the mechanics cut the wire with cutters by 1/8 inches and then replaced the connectors with new ones. Also told me that on these models, "hard top" plugs were better because vibration has a tendency to loosen up the top of plugs with a screw on top.

There is also your electrical box at the back of the back seat (you have to remove the white compartment behind the second seat). You may want to open it and check it that but it is a bit tricky to open (three snap-on locks to press down). And make sure the gasket stays on the base of the box because it doesn't seem to be fitting on the cover itself (I have to re-validate that). Mine is completely clean, no corrosion or else. Check yours.

Hope I am making any sense as I have been desperately trying to tune my ride for the last month and a half and when I started out, I knew nothing of a Sea-Doo! Period! It all started when my engine blew. Then I started learning at an exponential rate (as my wallet was being drained).

P.S.: cavitation would make your ride uncomfortable (like shaking, vibrating or making weird noise everyone I asked told me).

Benji.

Check your charging voltage. Make sure it stays 13 to 14 during full throtle. There could be an issue with the regulator.

a little light is fine through the impeller supposed to be max of 1mm of clearance. try new plugs and go through the carbs of course. missing a bit might more might be a symptom of low compression I seem to remember your numbers not being in the optimum range and could cause delayed performance/poor.

Just got back from another day on the water. The spark plugs fixed it. Thanks for the replies and help guys!
