I have an 04 Utopia 205 which starts porposing only in lite chop (I think that is the right term < 10" waves). Anyway, the boat runs great on smooth water but when I take is above 20 mph in any non-smooth water the nose will bounce up and down. I have tried redistributing the weight and increased speed only worsens the problem......local dealer said our boat was too small for the lake we are running on. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Since when is a twenty foot boat too small for some light chop on a lake??? I've had my 185 out in two to three foot waves with no problem.

First, try and keep as much weight as far forward as possible. Second, and this will most likely fix your problem, is the Mercury has an adjustable ride plate at the back of the pump. Have a good look at the back of the boat, and you will notice that there are adjustment bolts on the very back of the ride plate. Loosen the two jam nuts and turn the screws to lower the plate about half an inch. Start there and give it a try.
