Ohm test on cdi and mpem 96 gsx

hey now, when i do these test, on the cdi the manual doesn't give any range so do the readings have to be dead on? and the wiring diagram shows a ground wire comming out of the mpem right to ground, mine does not have this wire and the ohms test for the mpem last on the chart wants black ring terminal to red ring terminal, i dont have a red ring terminal on any of the wire comming off the mpem???
