:confused:Speed Problem
Hey out there in seadoo land.
I've got a 04 speedster 200 that I bought last summer with only 13 hours on it. At the end of the season (at Lake Tahoe 6,500 ft.) I finally talked my wife into opening it up to see what it could do. It accelerats very nice but at around 7,000 rpm's I was only doing around 35 mph and still could give it more throttle but there was no more rpm's. Tahoe is a very clear lake and I'm sure there is nothing in the intakes. I had them checked last year. This boat must do at least 50 mph. Any thoughts?

Are saying that it is bogging around 7000 rpms, or reving up to 7000 and not going anywhere, kinda like a pushing a clutch in a car?

Thanks for answering
What happens is that it accelerates fine to around 35 mph to about half throttle and around 6500 to 7000 rpms but after that there is nothing. It will rev higher but won't go any faster.
Thanks

Ok gotcha. A good rule of thumb to rememeber, with some exceptions, is:
High RPM/No Speed=propulsion problem/jet pump, wear ring, impeller, drive shaft, etc..

Low RPM/No Speed (bogging)= fuel system, carbs clogged, fuel lines clogged, bad gas, carbs not adjucted right.

Most of the time it's just time for a wear ring replacement. Pretty easy to do and to check as well. Take of your inlet grate and look up in there. The clearance between the wear ring and the impeller should not exceed 1mm, bout a sheet of paper. This clearance is critical for jet pump performance.

Also check your impeller blades for dings or bent blades. If it looks beat up it is unbalanced and will vibrate and damage wear ring, impeller shaft, shaft
seal or bearings.

Hope that get ya started.
