No start

96 GTX no start.All fuses are good,battery is charged.Starter is only one year old only 20 hours on it.I put the key on with the plug wires attached to the plugs I just get a click when I jump the two post on the solenoid.But when I put the plug wires on the grounding posts by the battery and jump the posts the engine cranks but won’t turn over.Also my friend was messing with the connections up front now it sounds like a single fire alarm beep

Sounds like you have a bad ground somewhere as moving the plug wires should have nothing to do with it cranking or not.

One beep means the computer doesn’t recognize the lanyard and will not let it crank with the start button. Two beeps means it recognizes the lanyard and will allow it to start.

Won’t crank with the start button just if I jump the solenoid with a screw driver is there a way to test the start button to see if it’s good or not?

If you push the start button without the lanyard connected do the gauges power up?
