Oye Folks,
Newbie jetboat owner wishing to share an experience.
Just received a new wear ring and skat impeller thanks to the helpfull folks on this site! (i'm in Trinidad & Tobago, so getting parts is a royal pain)
Anyway, after extensive reading on this forum i decieded to give it a try. Three hours after, a new wear ring and impeller installed. Decieded to leave it a couple days for the silicone to set etc...
Finally ready for the water and she refused to start...engine barely turned over and starter clicked after a slow 2 sec tumble. Tried a couple times but barely able to make a revolution on the engine. Tested batt and it seemed to be good. So i took of the reverse gate to see if the impeller was stuck. It seemed to be sunk into the wear ring on one side, very slightly. Charged the bat (just to be sure) and same results, a very slow crank then a loud click. After a couple beers and a few choice words, attempted again after removing the spark plugs. Engine began tumbling slowly then sped up to a normal tumble. Inserted sparkplugs and she fired right up!-) Man what a relief! It seemed the new wear ring was a little lopsided and needed additional torque to grind it down.
Must say thanks to all the guys who post on this site....great info!
Planning to hit the water this sat to test out new impeller and see what numbers i'm getting on the gps....will update on sunday. ( i was getting 61 km before change, 3 adults and a full tank of gas)
