I need a new wearing and I notice on e-bay, about a dozen different rings available. See some really cheap blue ones, some black ones, some white ones, some with a lip, and some without a lip. What works and what does not?

I recently ordered one off ebay, it was about 40 bucks and black with the lip for a 951 pump. Cant tell you how it would of worked, first time I hit the start button it sucked up a huge rock and scratched it all up. It seems to be much better then the last one even with all the fresh scratches though.

I will however share this advice.
You dont need to take the prop out unless you want.
The trick is to vibrate and spin the old ring while pulling up. You can use a air powered dull chisel to vibrate it clockwise while pulling up. It takes less then two minutes and for me anyway works better than freezing, cutting or chiseling the crap out of it. Tap the new one back in and your done.

I'm considering the Delrin ring, haven't tried it yet and I hear when they 1st came out some people complained about the dimensions didn't fit but Delrin is tough stuff so if it does fit it will probably never wear out.

The shake n bake ring removal may work on a 155mm pump, since I has set screws to hold it in place, but not for a 144mm pimp

Yes, the ring can be removed with impellir intact, but its a bear to do.

As for eBay rings, order it up from Bayside Mtrsprts. Jason is a good guy and have a great price....

When I had the jet pump rebuilt last winter; after shredding and spitting out the original wear ring, it was replaced with a Delrin wear ring. I think this is the same material used in all (except the SS one's) 4-tech's. No problems, there. Works perfectly.

Unfortunately, the machine is sidelined with another issue (I have another topic "12 v low" going on that), so it's not on the water right now.
