Does anyone know if the crank triggers between the 2005 and 2007 4Tecs are interchangeable? I know the terminals are different, but I can change to connectors to use it. The reason I need to do this is I have a 2007 RXT 215 with a 2005 215 short block. The 2007 ignition cover will not work with 2005 short block, as the crank pin is clocked differently - learned this the hard way. It WILL work, but you have to clock the trigger wheel two bolt holes forward and drill the trigger wheel for the revised dowel location. This does work, but the timing is still abut 7' off from where it should be. This makes the idle a little unstable.
I want to run the 2005 short block with the 2005 ignition cover, but will have to change the terminal end to make it hook up to the 2007 harness. I am just not sure if the different crank triggers will work with the 2007 ECU.
Any ideas on this?
