Okay guys, im a newbie to this forum and i need some help as i am stuck on what to do with my 96 gsx. Long story short i bought a lemon last year, and had to do an engine rebuild on it. Well it was my first time and had it running for about twenty minutes and locked up again. Figured out i replaced my cylinder with a 1mm overbore and in order for rave clearance i put like 3 gaskets down instead of shaving them down.:banghead: Piston ended up chipped and rings broken where they hit. It was running good before it died just like it should as i had gone thru the entire fuel system, new filters, cleaned carb like twice, new fuel lines and selector switch. My problem is now that when the engine quit something went into the rotary valve and scratched up the mating surface on the engine block, think it was a part of a piston ring. I took of the cylinders and for some reason the engine freed up and i can turn it by hand and nothing is really in the cylinders but it seems to have a tiny sticking point when i turn it by hand. Havent broken into the block yet to see if the brass gear is toast again as it was last time or if it is the bearings that are bad again. My question is, is this engine toast or should i do another rebuild on it. It has 163 hours, i dont think that the bearings have been gone through but when i did the last rebuild i took it to a shop and the guy thought that they still sounded good, and it only ran for more than 20 min after that. Can the mating surface on the block where the valve sits even be repaired? Or should i just look into a new engine, or parting my whole ski out and start fresh with a running one. Please take into effect that i am a college kid right now and only ride prolly less than 10 times a year. Thank Yas
