Yes, it sank. I purchased it in May of ’08 and had not left it in the water over night since the purchase… until 2 weeks ago. After pumping out the water, which completely covered the engine, I pulled it out and got it on my trailer. I thought all was lost and was very disappointed. I was sure it would never run again. $$$$$. I pull the intake duct off and a little water poured out. I didn’t think that was very much water and my spirits improved… until I opened the butter fly valve and another quart poured out - very disconcerting.
I pulled the spark plugs and turned the engine over. Water pumped out and hit the ceiling of my garage. I was fine with that… At least it turned over. I got the cylinder 1 down far enough with the intake valve in the open position and I proceeded to suck another ½ gallon out with my shopvac through the spark plug hole.
I checked the oil and it looked to be in pretty good shape. With the boat in the drive way, I hook up water by screwing in a quick release valve right into the inlet water tube and mated it to my garden hose. After spraying starter fluid in each spark plug hole and the intake manifold, I tried to start it. NO LUCK. I thought all was lost. Soon the battery was dead. I disconnected the battery (very important) and trickle charged it for 2 hours.
After charging, I sprayed a healthy amount of starter fluid in all the right holes and tried starting again. With some sputters and coughs, the dang thing started!!!! I couldn’t believe it. I played with the throttle to keep it going but soon it was happily idling.
Now it starts every time, on the first engine turn over.:hurray:
So here is the Question: I have changed my oil 4 times now and it is still milky (water contaminated). How many oil changes does it usually take before the milky color goes away?
