Mpem for spx 1999

I recently replaced mpem with aftermarket mpem. It has to b reprogrammed every time battery dies, very annoying pulling box out from under front . I still have original mpem. My question is if I plug that back in and it truly is bad can it hurt any other electronics in it? I bought this thing for 400 bucks last year with a blown motor . Put new motor in it and then the money starts to get poured into it. New beeper , trim motor, wear ring, and other stuff. Only reason I bought it was because it is in really really nice shape. Took it out for first voyage after rebuilding and shit started smoking under seat. Turns out the ground wire going to motor was doing something, possibly shorting. This thing is the most annoying ski I've ever owned. My 96 xp I hop on and ride, been trying to blow motor up but the thing is very durable (I have new motor for that one on standby) . Back to the subject, is there anything that can get fried if the mpem is bad? And yes it has a new rectifier as well. I understand there are people I can probably send it to get tested but honestly I dont trust them, if it's good then they probably would keep.

Well, I can tell you almost all of the aftermarket MPEM's are absolute junk and cause nothing but issues.

If it was me I would get a guaranteed, tested used OEM MPEM from Nick or Jess at Westside Powersports.

I have the original. Only reason I got aftermarket was because I had so many issues with ski. Not sure if mpem is bad. My question is can I hurt anything electronically if i try the original OEM mpem?

Cool ty!! I'll give it a try. The aftermarket one did work with no issues just a pain in ass reprogramming everytime battery gets taken out plus I think the aftermarket mpem has a small draw of power draining battery .
